TalkTastic replaces your keyboard with your voice. It needs your permission to do so.

TalkTastic must be able to hear you, recognize your speech, understand the context in which you are speaking, and paste your words into any app you choose.

To achieve this, TalkTastic requires a few permissions.

We'll guide you through the necessary permissions available on your computer for TalkTastic to work effectively.

Microphone Permission

TalkTastic is a voice-first speech companion, so we need an active microphone at all times for the app to work.

The first step is to Allow TalkTastic to access the microphone. Select Allow and when a pop-up show for granting permissions, select Allow. This will allow TalkTastic to access any microphone chosen by you (later in this process).

Speech Recognition Permission

Instant transcription requires speech recognition enabled so that Apple can process your speech as quickly as possible.

You will be presented with a modal explaining how Apple Speech Recognition works and the option to Allow or Don't Allow Apple Speech Recognition.

Choose Allow to continue and to use TalkTastic.

Allow for Screen Recording

TalkTastic takes a one-time Snapshot of your app to correctly spell your friends’ names and accurately format your note for the application where you are inserting your message. You will be able to have fine-tuned controls over what is recorded and when.

This unique feature is core to the experience of TalkTastic, and it is highly recommended that you toggle on this permission to try it out. You will have access to controls via the menu bar to turn it off while using TalkTastic, or you can return to the System Settings.

Once you have toggled the Screen Recording Permission to on, your system should offer you the prompt to Quit & Reopen. This restarts TalkTastic and begins the personalization process.

Quit & Reopen TalkTastic

Allow Permissions to Paste Your Content into Your Apps

You've already allowed microphone access, speech recognition, and screen capture for context. Now, enable the necessary accessibility feature to finalize the process.

To complete the setup, please grant TalkTastic permission to paste your spoken words into any app.

You will select Open System Preferences, and a modal will appear to Open System Preferences or Deny. Choose Open System Preferences.

Toggle the Accessibility Setting to on and a pop-up will ask to Quit & Restart. Choose Quit & Restart and you'll be on your way!

If things are working fine for you from here, go to the Next Step: Personalize Your Workspace. If you're having problems, please see Troubleshooting Permissions you can always contact help.
